Dilaudid 8mg Use

Updated

I started off taking 1/2 of an 8mg Dilaudid. It was given to me from a friend who has a legit script because I threw out my back. From the first time I took it, I loved it...not a good thing. Within a week, I talked him into giving me his entire script (180 8mgs) as he truly did not NEED it. I started out at 4mg 3x a day, but quickly upped that. Within two weeks, I was up to 7-8x a day, sometimes 12-16 mg at a time, never less than 8mg, usually once an hour, and occasionally snorting it. I was basically high for two months straight. I made the decision after seeing two of my good friends become junkies to try and stop before it got worse and I'd end up shooting it. I tapered down to 8mg 3x a day, then 2x a day, then 4mg 3x a day, then 2x a day. After that I quit cold turkey, and let me tell you it was ROUGH. By far the worst withdrawl of any drug I've done. My recommendation would be to never touch this s***, cuz once you do, unfortunately, you'll love it (the high I mean). What you won't like, if you're like me, is the side effects while on it. Extreme constipation, falling asleep in the middle of the day while just sitting around, itching like a mad man (still itching to this day), extreme loss of energy and motivation, having your life revolve around doing the drug, terrible snoring (more a complaint of my wife), trouble urinating, not being able to drive very well, the list goes on and on. My withdrawl symptoms are just now starting to go away and it's been a month. To anyone reading this, I hope this scares you. I read forums upon forums BEFORE I took this drug, and most people say "oh, I have no side effects, it's a wonder-drug". That is bulls***. My aunt has advanced cancer and was prescribed Dilaudid and won't even take the s*** cuz she says the side effects are so bad. It is amazing how fast you become tolerant to the drug and also how fast it sucks you in until your whole day is about "when am I going to do more?". Please think if it's really worth it before you try this s***. I wish I had come across a post like this before I ever started. Maybe it would have helped. Just talking from experience, but like they say, everyone is different. Maybe to some this is a wonder-drug, but then again, Meth addicts love Meth, and Coke addicts love Coke. This stuff is basically prescription Heroin and actually is 3-4x stronger, especially when IV'd. In my opinion, this s*** is the devil formed into a little triangular pill. STAY AWAY!

I am sorry about what you went through, but the truth is that this medication does not have the same effects on everyone that takes it.

It is always advisable to warn people, just in case and we do appreciate your post, but there are many, many people that manage to use such medications exactly as prescribed and do not suffer any problems.

I've taken Dilaudid before, via IV in the hospital and orally, after being released and I had no desire to continue taking it once I was pain free. I actually don't like the high feeling that narcotics cause.

How are you doing, now? Any improvement?

Why would you take a narcotic prescribed for someone else? But given that you did wasn't it obvious that you should not take this type of drug since you had cravings for more? The first time you "craved" more was your clue NOT to take anymore. Why did you take a drug not prescribed for you, then abuse it after ignoring your body telling you that you are headed for trouble and then blame the drug as if there is something the mater with IT? Take responsibility for what you did and the consequences you experienced by using extremely poor judgment.

Recently I was admitted to the hospital for negligent discharge which unfortunately hit my foot (shot myself in the foot). I had the IV drip with the magic button after my surgery, yes it's a hell of a drug but not all the side affects are like that for everyone. All I had was mild itching, yes it is addictive but taken the way it supposed to be is fine. So please don't warn people away from a drug that could help, when all that was bad about it was the choices you made with it. I've been on it orally now for a month, and it does fine for my pain. It isn't addictive unless you make it.
