Diflon 500mg

I use Butrons patches (morphine) for pain due to Multiple Sclerosis. Would I be able to take Diflon 500mg safely whilst using these patches?

That is probably something that you will need to discuss with your doctor, since no one over the internet can possibly know your medical history or how this drug affects you, as well as the benefits or disadvantages that it provides you when combining it with another drug. Only you or your doctor can evaluate something like that and make a prediction as to how it might effect you.

On another note: Diflon does not appear to show up under any drug database in the U.S. (not even on google) so I cannot locate any information on it if I was able to help you. You'd want to let your doctor know the generic name of this medication if you do decide to contact him or her for advice so they can be of better help to you.

Hi Stephen - The corrected spelling of this medication appears to be Daflon.

While I could not find specific drug interactions listed, it is definitely advisable to double check with your doctor before taking this since Butrans is a pretty heavy duty drug. Here are some details which I was able to gather about Daflon 500mg:

"Contents
Micronized purified flavonoid fraction 500 mg (diosmin 90%, hesperidin 10%)

Indications
Treatment of organic and functional chronic venous insufficiency of the lower limbs with the following symptoms: Swollen legs, pain and nocturnal cramps.
Treatment of chronic haemorrhoids and acute haemorrhoidal attacks.

Dosage
Chronic Conditions: Usual Dose: 2 tablets daily in 2 divided doses, in the morning and evening at mealtimes.
Acute Hemorrhoidal Attacks: 6 tablets daily (in 3 divided doses) for 3-4 days, then 4 tablets daily (in 2 divided doses).

Administration
Should be taken with food (Take at mealtimes.).

Special Precautions
Acute Hemorrhoidal Attack: If the hemorrhoid symptoms do not disappear within 15 days, ask the physician for advice.
Venous Circulation Disorders: The most effective way of giving this treatment is in combination with a healthy lifestyle. Avoid exposure to the sun, heat, excessive standing and being overweight. Walking and wearing special support stockings stimulate blood circulation.

Use in pregnancy & lactation: Inform the physician of any possible pregnancy before using Daflon 500 mg. In the absence of data on entering breast milk, breastfeeding should be avoided during treatment.

Adverse Drug Reactions
Some cases of routine gastric and neurovegetative disorders (feeling of discomfort) have been reported, not requiring discontinuation of treatment. Consult physician in case of adverse ractions not previously mentioned.

Drug Interactions
Inform the physician of any other treatment the patient receives.

Description
Each tablet contains micronized, purified flavonoid fraction corresponding to diosmin 90% and flavonoids expressed as hesperidin 10%.

Mechanism of Action
Vascular protector (it increases resistance in small blood vessel) and venous tonic (it increases venous tone). Daflon 500 mg is active on the return vascular system in the following way: It reduces venous distensibility and venous stasis; in the microcirculation, it normalizes capillary permeability and reinforces capillary resistance.
