Did My Pain Doc Lie To Me???

Updated

I'm hoping someone has any sort of knowledge they can add here. I am currently on Workmans Comp and the claim is active. The WC insurance company has been paying for me to see my pain management Dr. and meds he prescribes for 6 months now. Initial visit I was prescribed 80 15mg Roxicodone. By the third visit he upped my count to 120. Delaware Medicare/Medicaid is starting a New law stating "Medicare/Medicaid patients who are being treated for Non-Cancerous Chronic pain are limited to 240 15mg Oxycodones per year and/or 60 30mg Oxycodone per year beginning March 1, 2012". My PM Doc said that because of this "after I give you this months dose, (120 15's which made everyday life manageable at best) you will be at your limit for the year." (120 in Jan. 120 in Feb.) he then tells me "When you visit next month, I will have to just give you 10mg Oxycodone and you can just take one and a half". I am HIGHLY confused because since it clearly states "Medicare/Medicaid Patients" wouldn't that exclude me since I am on Work. Comp and the insurance company is paying for visits, meds, lost wages??? I am also really concerned as to why he would lower the milligram if 2 months ago he raised the count for very legitimate, honest reasons. Please Someone give me your opinion....

Did you remind him that you're not on the government insurance plans?

Since a doctor doesn't handle billing, he may not really be aware of who is paying your bills and may just think it is one of the government coverage plans.

No I haven't communicated that to him during that visit. Should I mention it on my next visit? I know that this topic can be very sensitive. I just don't wanna set off "alarms" yanno?
