Which medication is strongest for extreme chronic joint and muscle pain! Ms contin, OxyContin, or norspan patches? I just want the best continual pain relief! My pain has been severe and chronic for almost a year and I go to a pain clinic this month! Just need more information as my pain is definitely effecting the quality f my life! I am also going to be going to a Rhematoid Arthritis Clinic to see if this is what I have or osteoarthritis! My blood work and bones study shows my bones and muscles are deteriorating! Just need accurate information!

The pain is getting worse! I am waking up in the middle of the night out of a dead sleep screaming in pain. My husband has to help me as I have been losing muscle strength in my legs so between that and the pain it makes standing and walking difficult! Still have no diagnosis and I am on MS Contin, endone, targin, and Norspan patches and I am still in extreme pain! Need advice!!

Monkey you cannot take any narcotic pain killers (endone and MS Contin) with the norspan patches. While the narcotics are still in your system the norspan patches will be causing you to go through withdrawel and increased pain is a symptom of withdrawel. If you keep the patch on and stop taking the pills or take the patch off and stop the pills you will feel better within 3 days. Ask the dr for a muscle relaxant and/or sleep aid to help during that time and take paracetamol and b vitamins regularly.

@Monkey,

I'm so sorry to hear about the issues you are dealing with. Have you asked your doctor about trying an extended release medication? Extended-release [(ER, XR, XL), timed-release (TR), controlled-release (CR), modified release (MR), or continuous-release (Contin)] is a process used in pill tablets or capsules to dissolve a drug over time in order to be released slower and steadier into the bloodstream while having the advantage of being taken at less frequent intervals than immediate-release (IR) formulations of the same drug.

A medication of that sort may help you to sleep through the night. Also, I just thought I'd ask...have you ever considered acupuncture or raindrop therapy with essential oils for your pain? If you'd like more information about those treatments, please post back and I'll be glad to help. :) Good luck!

Thank you for your reply! I have now seen a rheumatologist and am see and endocrinologist next week! They are doing every blood test possible to rule out. At the moment because I am 37 but went into menopause at 18 years old its tough! My body feels like its 87 some days! Joints swell and stiffen to the pint where I cannot walk or get out of bed most mornings! My husband is my full time carer as my legs are losing
Muscle strength and have given out on me occasionally. I cannot do the things I enjoy like yoga or even playing with my son who is 5! I have just recently decreased my meds with the doctors approval because I don't want to be taking so many medications that are addictive! So far so good! We just changed them yesterday and today I feel the best I have felt on a year! I got up at 5 am and wasn't in pain or having anxiety attacks! I feel like "me" again! I have tried acupuncture but with no relief. I had to get ultrasound guides cortisone injections in not hips for bursitis and we were praying that one treatment would be enough but it didn't work. So I have to wait another 3 months before another set. Never heard of rain drop. Please let me know what it is and once again thanks for your response! Have a blessed day/night :)
