I was on Cymbalta for 4 months, worked my way up to 120 mg. Experienced "brain zaps" and terrible twitching of my extremities. Decided to wean off with the help of my psychiatrist. Weaned off very slowly, even dumping out half of the last two weeks of capsules (bringing down the 20 mg tabs to 10 mg tabs). I have been totally off Cymbalta now for 2.5 weeks. My pain/discomfort is normally an 8 out of 10 but now it's a 9.5 out of 10. Feeling horrible! Head pain, nausea, dizziness, frequent hot flashes. Feel like I would rather be dead. This is a horrible drug. I hear it helps people (didn't help me at all) but if you ever have to come off of it, fasten your seat belt as it will be an awful ride! ## Hello, Catarin! How are you feeling? I'm sorry that you're so misera...

Hello, I am currently withdrawing from Cymbalta. I was prescribed 90mg/daily and the requested to go down to 60mg. I recently switched jobs, so now I have no insurance to get anymore. I have tapered down to 30mg over the course of a month, then tapered down to 15mg, then 5. Now I am taking nothing. The brain zaps that I am experiencing are the absolute worst, Every time I blink, or look in a certain direction, even when I swallow, I get 2-3 brain zaps. It averages 100-200 a day. My head and back aches, I'm nauseous, I just don't know what to do. I keep crying too. I know that I have to go through with this. I feel so horrible. What can I do to ease this? I started taking 5HTP 100mg, because I read somewhere that this can help ease the transition. It does nothing. I am so lost. P...

I was on cymbalta for 7 to 8 years can't remember that's one of the side effects. Anyway I was put on it for my rage and fibromyalgia. Well it helped my mood tremendously. Someone could say some hateful or sarcastic comment and it wouldn't even bother me one bit. Now the bad, I had severe right side pain. Went to one doctor to another they finally took out my gallbladder. Had severe constipation and weight gain. Also had brain zaps thru the back of my skull. I tried getting off cymbalta several times and failed couldn't handle side effects. I finally got the courage 3 months ago to stop this good/evil drug. I would take one every other day for a week. Then take One every 2 days for a week Until I quit. Now that I'm off I have depression. Rage is back. So it did help ...

Can taking zimbalta cause an 80% chance of bladder cancer? ## Hello, Charlie5! How are you? Did you mean Cymbalta? I have never heard of such a thing and it's not listed in the medication warnings and side effects that the FDA provides. I also find it highly doubtful that any drug agency would approve a medication with that high of a risk. The typical side effects are listed as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth and weight changes. Is there anything else I can help with?

I take cymbalta for knee pain (after 4 knee surgeries). The cymbalta works ok for the pain, but my husband googled it and assumes I am hiding a mental health disorder. Has anyone had a similar issue? Not sure how to explain that I am taking a depression med for pain purposes. ## Hello, Jo! How are you? You could have him talk to your doctor by going to an appointment with you. Your doctor can talk to him and explain it, if you give them permission to do so. The FDA lists the typical side effects for this medication as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth and weight gain. However, it is a shame that he's making such a big deal out of mental health issues. They are nothing to be ashamed of and there shouldn't be any stigma associated with them. Is there anythi...

I currently take 250 mg of zoloft and my pdoc has me on lactimal 100mg. The lactimal doesnt seem to work anymore and i tried everything else. I have bipolar with major depression and schizo affective disorder ,adhd, and ocd. i take also haldol 2mg twice a day, klonopin 2mg a day and vyvanse 70mg a day. i have been thinking about trying cymbalta or latuda. any suggestions. i just dont want to be depressed any more . i am 40 years old and dealt with this the whole time. ## Hello, Angel! How are you feeling? I am sorry that you're suffering depression, that's very tough to deal with. The Latuda is an atypical antipsychotic, so it is very similar to the Haldol that you already take. The Cymbalta is an SNRI antidepressant, so it's related to the Zoloft, though not the same. Were th...

I'm prescribed several medications. Cymbalta 60mg, Adderall 15mg xr to take in the morning, Adderall 20mg to take at 3:00pm, Lisinopril 40mg, Prilosec 20mg, Zyrtec 10mg, and Flexeril 30mg. I take all of these meds everyday. Is it possible that any of these medications can show up as a Benzo on a UA test? ## Sorry I forgot I also take Seroquel 300mg xr.

Ever since ive been on Coperin 30mg I have felt nausea, bloating, flatulence, burping. Is this normal? Also, if I were to stop taking it how long before I will have no side effects? ## Hello, Trish! How are you? Yes, those are normal side effects, as listed by the FDA. You may also experience dizziness, headache, dry mouth and weight changes. How long have you been taking it? It may take anywhere from 2 weeks to a month, before the side effects go away, after stopping it. What condition is being treated?

Been on cymbalta for 2 years. Switched from lexapro to cymbalta to treat anxiety disorder. The during the 6 months transition to cymbalta, I began having very tight muscles in my calves and feet, a constant electrical buzzing sensation in my legs and feet, arm and wrist pain, chills. I thought they'd go away once I got used to cymbalta. Two years now (60 mg) and I still get buzzing sensations and stiff cramps calf and foot muscles. Every few weeks I experience a few days of joint pain, esp wrists and hands, and achy feet when I get up , especially balls of feet and ankles. Feet and hands also burn now and then. Yoga and walking daily seem to help. I have body chills and also muscle twitches in calves every day. Had none of this prior to cymbalta. Has anyone had such symtoms while tak...

I've been on Cymbalta for 5 years now. I went from 30mg to 90 mg. Back down to 60mg. The reason is I felt it no longer helped & the side effects out weighed the good, but then again its been awhile. Cymbalta is the only medication that has totally worked for my panic attacks & social phobias. But for about the last 2-3 years now I've gained at least 30lbs, my ears ring so loud, pain in my joints & insomnia. Oh and yes my scalp itches like crazy & horrible dreams. Tomorrow im going to 30 mg, until i have this out of my body, and find another answer. I'm scared but there needs to be another answer. ## Hello, Martha! How are you? I'm very sorry about the problems you've had. What else have you tried? Was Prozac (Fluoxetine) one of them? It's an SSRI ...

I have been on Cymbalta ( and Teva generic 60mg) for 8 years now. Lately it's starting to feel like the med is not quite the same in efficacy as a year ago. Wondering if things might pick up if I can get insurance to cover some of the brand name again,? ## Hello, Howard! How are you? It is normal for our bodies to get used to anything we ingest regularly for a long period of time and for it to stop working as well. Thus, after 8 years, you most likely need to try a different medication for awhile. What condition are you taking it to treat? If the SNRIs, such as this, work best for you, there are others you can try, such as Effexor, Pristiq and Savella. The FDA lists them all as possibly causing similar side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, dry mouth and weight changes.

Hey everyone! I would really like to get some feedback from people who have been on Cymbalta for at least a few years. I have been on Cymbalta 60 mg for three months now. I feel that it has given me some relief from my nerve pain related to damage from surgeries on the right wrist. But there have been some concerning stories from long-term users of Cymbalta; including diminished pain relief, short-term memory loss, weakness, etc. I am very concerned about whether there are long-term side effects of this drug. Especially because I heard that the longer you take it the harder it is for your body to get off it. Feedback from any long-term users of Cymbalta, good stories and bad stories, would be greatly appreciated. Thank you ## Hello, Concerned! How are you? There are such risks associate...

I would like to share this, for anyone trying to get off Cymbalta; many know it makes it easier for some people to take the capsule apart and take out a bit of the content and reduce it that way. there are 250 tiny balls in there (yes I counted!) which makes it quite tedious, but there's a generic brand called Coperin by Alphapharm, who condensed it to only 6 little pebbles (5mg each) which makes it WAY easier to reduce as you go along. I reduced one pebble every 2 months, but everyone is different. I want to get this out there as this has made a huge difference in my getting off this medication!!

I started at 30 mg and it helped my fibromyalgia pain but wore off by evening so I tried upping to 60mg & I couldn't keep my eyes open was so sleepy so went back to 30. My doc said side effects will go away in time. Am wonder how long before the sleepiness will go away ## Hello, Crista! How are you? It is normal to experience side effects, whenever you increase the dosage of a medication. They usually wear off after about 4 weeks, once your body gets used to the medication. At the time, if they aren't improving, you should speak to your doctor. The FDA lists the typical side effects of Cymbalta as possibly including nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth, mood swings and weight changes. Is there anything else I can help with? ## Thank you for the reply! That answered my qu...

- Unused Cymbal 30 mg exp 09 2014, unopened 09 2014 and 10 2014 - Unused Cymbalta 60 mg exp 10 2013 and 11 2013 - Unopened exp 12 2013 (2 bottles) and 01 2014 (2 bottles) I spent a small fortune on these meds (copays). Is there any way to get a refund or partial refund for them from the pharmacy? I hate to see it wasted considering the cost of these. ## Hello, D! How are you? No, I'm sorry, there is not. It is illegal for them to take back a medication, once it has left the pharmacy, due to the risk of tampering. Since these are also expired, the best thing to do with them would be to dispose of them. The FDA classifies Cymbalta as an SSNRI antidepressant and its typical side effects may possibly include nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth, mood swings and weight changes. Is th...

I was on Celexa for Anxiety, Depression and Panic Attacks for over a year and it stopped working. I am now on day 4 of my psychiatrist switching me to 30mg Cymbalta. After 7 days I will go off of Celexa and be on 60mg of Cymbalta. The problem is I am so nauseated, shaky, sleep is sporadic and feel like I can't keep going. I want to be better so bad. But every day feels like an eternity. Can someone please give me hope of light at the end of the tunnel, that this will all be worth it? ## Hello, Sally! How are you? I'm sorry that you're so miserable. Yes, there is light at the end of the tunnel, but right now, you're dealing with withdrawal symptoms from one medication and the side effects of the new one. Thus, it isn't surprising that you feel the way you do. Rebound ...

Is this drug in the family of drugs with cymbalta or could it be substituted for cymbalta ## Hello, Larry! How are you? Did you mean Duloxetine? That is the active ingredient in Cymbalta, so its what the generics would be called. The FDA classifies this medication as an SSNRI antidepressant. Its typical side effects may possibly include nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth, mood swings and weight changes. Is there anything else I can help with?
