Cleansing

Updated

Hi everyone who is suffering the horrible side effects of Metoprolol withdrawal (including myself). I just got off about 4 days ago. I am doing a cleanse to get this stuff out of my body. Also eating a lot of fruits, veggies and fiber rich foods. I'm feeling a little better today. Day 2 & 3 were HORRIBLE. Juicing is also beneficial. Just thought this may help.

Hi, Becky! Sorry about the problems that you're having.

However, Metoprolol is a beta blocker that's used to treat high blood pressure and certain cardiac conditions, so it shouldn't cause serious withdrawal effects.

The most serious problem that usually occurs, when someone stops taking it is due to the rebound effect that it can cause. This can result in someone developing seriously elevated blood pressure and heart rate that might put their lives in danger, if they stop taking it abruptly.

Learn more Metoprolol details here.

What were you taking it for and what types of issues are you experiencing?

Verwon, I was taking it for high blood pressure. I am also on an ace inhibitor and diuretic. I only took it for a month and only 25 mg. I was tired every day and woke up with headaches almost every day. I stopped cold turkey since I only took it for a month. Maybe that wasn't the best thing to do. My BP is actually better now than it was on the medicine.
