Hi, on day two I woke up with this horrible metallic acidy bad taste in my mouth, mostly my tongue. I searched the Internet for help. I tried the following: Gargling with salt water, no effect. Gargling with baking soda, no effect. Eating drinking citris - somewhat effective Spraying my mouth with sore throat medicine - short term effect Started taking Zinc- BAD TASTE VANISHED - EFFECTIVE! ## Ironically enough, Chantix does list "having a bad taste in the mouth" pretty much word for word as a general side effect. So I wouldn't be surprised at all if it never went away until you stopped taking the medication. However, I am curious to know whether or not any metallic taste will return after you've continued to supplement with Zinc? If you could keep us posted every now and...

When given an under the tongue saliva drug screen/test (a test that takes 5-10 minutes to collect saliva from under the tongue into a stem that when done turns blue) could any of these medications (chantix 1.o mg, omeprazole dr 40mg, or simvastatin 40mg) give what is called a false positive result or show up as any other type of drug? Plz help..thank u ## ABSOLUTELY!! It can show up as methamphetamine and most likely several others! I know this because I was prescribed Chantix and tried to commit suicide after being on it for two weeks. When the food and drug administration spokesperson spoke to me he told me they found methamphetamine. I really don't know why it was in my system and marijuana, which I haven't done either. I argued with him about it, went running to my doctor do...

I could not stop smoking. and I smoked a lot! Everything revolved around the next cigarette. I was a major stress smoker. I smoked two packs a day, plus more. I kept getting serious sinus infections and allergies always going to drs.. Then I started with bronchitis! The dr said I was just beginning into the first stages of emphysema...I wheezed and had chest pain like mad...I prayed for some way for me to quit. That night I heard my first tv ad on Chantix.. I sat up and said... that's it!! All I remember hearing is 'they found a pill that shuts off the brain receptors that crave nicotine'... I said thank you god, went to the doctors and got some. I made a quit date, for 5 days later. That was 8 years ago! I never smoked again... No side effects at all! And I had a history of...

I would like to know if a person who takes chantix and has the common side effect of headaches ever stops having these side effects? ## Yes, according to FDA reports, most side effects are transient and tend to go away, once your body gets used to the medication. But that may take 4 to 5 weeks. Other side effects are listed as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, mood swings, and weight changes. How are you doing regarding smoking cessation?

I have been taking Chantix for a week tomorrow. From the first pill, I started getting a headache. Since then, the headache has stayed with me even after using ibuprofen and all throughout the night I am awakened by it. NEVER have I had a headache for this long and RARELY have I suffered headaches before, just mild and on occasion. The nausea comes and goes, but when it hits it hits hard. I feel weak and groggy too. I am hoping this will go away once I stop taking the Chantix, but I want to give it a few weeks so I can kick the habit. Yes, also a nasty taste in my mouth and no real interest in food, but eat because I know I have to. VERY BIZARRE how such a small pill with such low dosage can wreak so much havoc. I know for the long term, if it works, quitting is what's best for me, ...

I have been taking Chantix, never a thought of suicide, dreams were as usual (weird) and have been smoking less but have not completely stopped. I'm working on it with the Lords help/blessing, I too will be a success story. I have zero regrets about using this smoking cessation aid.

I STOPPED SMOKING ON 3/22/2016. NOW I HAVE SEVERE PAIN IN MY LEGS AND ARMS. THEY FEEL LIKE A TIGHT RUBBER BAND. I cant take it anymore. ## Hello, Nicole! How are you doing? Has there been any change? This medication has been known to cause pain, but not edema and swelling, as reported by the FDA. Typical side effects are listed as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache and dry mouth. Are you on any other medications? If would most likely be best to have this checked out for your own health and safety. ## Please ignore the above poster. Angioedema is listed as a side effect. A SERIOUS one at that. Call your Doctor IMMEDIATELY. ## I have been taking chantix for 6 weeks now. I am interested in joining this forum. Thank you

Will it hurt me if I take chantix every 8 hours? I work 12 hour shifts at night. ## You should take it in compliance with your doctor's dosing instructions. The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, mood swings, and weight changes. If you're taking it twice daily, that still fits around your 12 hour work shift, you could take a dose right before you go to work and the other one, when you clock out. Is there anything else I can help with?

Can i just continue with .05 mg twice a day instead of 1.0 mg twice a day? Kinda scared of taking 2mg a day of Chantix. ## What scares you about it? Have you been experiencing any odd, or dangerous side effects? The FDA lists the typical ones as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth, and weight changes.

I don't drink or take any medications. No history of anxiety or depresion. Would chantix be relatively safe for me to use? ## Hello, John! How are you? It should be, but only your doctor can decide if it is appropriate for you to try. The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, and dry mouth. Is there anything else I can help with? ## Thanks, Verwon. I'll ask him about it when he calls with my lipid results.

Since I have been taking Chantix I have not been able to climax and I think it's affecting my libido. ## Hello, Shy! How are you doing? Yes, it has been known to cause such issues, as reported by the FDA, along with nausea, dizziness, headache, chest pain, and muscle spasms. Side effects are usually transient and go away with time, once your body gets used to a medication. How long have you been taking it?

I've been on Chantix for five days and down to 4 cigs a day. Will I ever quit smoking? I don't think about smoking as much as before. I have smoked for 35 years so I really hope this helps. Thank you Chantix. ## Hello, Nellie! How are you? It has successfully helped many people quit smoking. When is your quit date? The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including abnormal dreams, nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth, weight changes and trouble sleeping. And yes, it doesn't have to be taken with a full meal. Is there anything else I can help with?

I've been taking chantix for 6 weeks now. My quit date was on the 17th but I ran out of cigarettes on the 12th so I said to my self... today is a good day to quit... That was a month ago. Only side effects I got was the dreams, although I was not as happy as I usually am but my husband says that just means your like a normal person now...haha very funny. I am so happy that I am a non smoker when I read people quit after 2 weeks that scared me cause I didnt think it would work. But it did!! Little bit of nausea but its worth it not to smell anymore and to breath again. It says to take for 3 months and that is what im going to do... Thank so much Chantix ## Hello, Loni! How are you? I couldn't remember if I took my blue chantix. So I took another one.it was lime 2 hrs apart. I feel light headed when I stand up an little sick to my stomach. Just wanting to know what will happen. ## Hello, Betty! How are you? It could be dangerous, if it caused Serotonin syndrome, but that's not highly likely if it just happened ones. Did you experience any adverse effects? It is most likely to cause more severe side effects, which as listed by the FDA, may include nausea, dizziness, drowsiness and dry mouth. It would also be a good idea to inform your doctor, that way they can watch for any potential issues.

How can I get this medicine at an affordable price. my insurance will not cover and charges my $25 for 15 pills. On fixed income and cannot afford. Any information will be mostly appreciated. Email address {edited for privacy} ## Have you considered applying for any type of patient assistance program to help cover a percentage of the cost of your medication? There are also a number of "prescription drug coupons" that can be found online through various search engines like Google, as a last resort option. Patient assistance programs aren't always available, as it largely depends on the manufacturer; but if you're goal is to just save some money, I think some of these coupons can save you anywhere from 10-75% off your next script. In the meantime, I'd recommend asking ...

I recently weaned myself off of Chantix. Prior to taking it, I had already been diagnosed with an anxiety disorder, but it was totally manageable. I had only had one full blown anxiety attack before getting on Chantix and none during. However, in the week since I have been off of it, I have been seriously anxious. Like a mini panic attack a day anxious. I've made an appt with my doctor, but I wanted to know if anyone else had experienced this sort of thing. I feel like a freak. :( ## Please don't feel like a freak, such experiences are completely normal and we all go through them, some more than others, so there's no reason to feel that way. And yes, when you stop taking a medication like Chantix, it can cause rebound type effects, which may include anxiety attacks. Learn mo...

I am a very grateful 43 year young woman. I quit smoking for the 1st time after smoking for 24 years. I was having an elective surgery and my surgeon said I had to quit 14 days before my procedure. Which I ended up quitting 12 days before. He nicotine tested me the day of my procedure to be sure I hadn't smoked. I let him know it had only been 12 days, and I was able to have my procedure! I began taking Chantix on 3/27/08 and by the next morning they already tasted bad. I had my last cigarette at 7am on 3/30/08. I took Chantix for 30 days and have never craved or smoked again. It's been 7 years and 8 months. When I think back its hard to imagine ever smoking. Which my seem crazy since I smoked over half my life. The love of my life always tells me it's hard to even imagine t...
