Buprenorphine's New Look

Updated

I have used suboxone for opiate substitution treatment since 2006. I am on a monthly refill schedule. I picked up the refill yesterday and found that the table had changed from the orange five-sided tablet, to a thicker, white, round pill with 155 on one side and the crescent moon on the other. I was going to return it to the pharmacy when I decided to look it up online and am glad I found your site.

Hi Robert! Very glad that you found the information you were seeking.

There are some new Suboxone generics on the market and it is completely normal for your pharmacy to switch which one they provide you with, depending on whether or not generics come available and whatever manufacturer is offering the cheapest price at the time they need to restock their supply. It's how they keep prices down for uninsured customers.

Learn more Suboxone details here.

Is there anything I can help with?

Hi, I've just very recently been prescribed Buprenorphine/Nalox8-2
I have had JRA since the age of 9 and have gone through every medication out there! I've tried all the old stuff (gold, plaqunil, methotrexate, imuran, ect....) as well as all the new ones, remicade & xeljanz to name a couple. Now my doctor wants me to try mixing the new with the old. It feels like to me that he's just getting older and doesn't gave that youthful optimism anymore. I have also been on some form of pain medicine (Vicodin & Percocet) since I was diagnosed. The rheumatoid arthritis is in every joint and tends to flair whenever it feels like it. My pain meds along with a lot of prednisone got me through the past 35 years. I'm 45 now with an 11 year old daughter and a body that is not aging so well. The reason I've been put on the Buprenorphine is to help me be able to not take the Percocet and Vicodin. My rheumatologist sent (dumped) me onto the pain clinics steps with a note that he thinks I'm taking too much pain meds. I'm pretty open to trying anything new so I went to hear what they had to say. The Dr.'s there were super nice but didn't think I was over doing it. I went back to tell my Dr. what was said and he wasn't happy. It seems to me, since the government is cracking down on the pain medicine usage, my Dr. now wants nothing to do with controlling my pain. I'm feeling kind if left high and dry. Thank goodness for a new dr. at the hospital I use that's in the pain clinic. We've talked, he actually listens , he told me lots of Dr.'s are just sending everybody to pain management to get off all the narcotics they themselves have prescribed, and that the pain clinic is NOT a detox but that's how it's getting treated. Anyway this new Dr. asked me if I would like to try suboxone (sp?)
And this is the medication I got (the Buprenorphine ) is it the same thing?? Has anyone used it for pain management, or been told, as I have, that it can work well as a pain relief med? I'm really scared, I'm not afraid of pain per say but I do have a young daughter and a family that's active and I so want to be part of what they like to do too. When I do too much, and I know my limits so I usually know when to stop, I'm still so sore and generally in a lot of pain.
I guess I'm just looking to see if anybody else is using this same medication for the same purpose and how are you doing?
Sorry for being long winded! I feel like I have so much to say and ask but no one has the time to really listen.

I know people who take subutex which is the same as suboxone but without the naloxon. They take it to get off pain meds such as percacet and loratab I know IM probly spelling wrong but anyway sorry. I also myself take it for the same reason as well as for pain and I can tell you that it works ten times better for pain to me then any other pain pill out there so I would say to you try it. You might be really surprised how well it really works. My friends also say the same thing. So I Hope it works for you as well as it does for me. Good luck to you and you're kid.

Are you know being prescibed the tiny ones manufactured by HiTech? They are horrible and get lost in my mouth. It's like taking nothing at all. Do you are anyone else have suggestions? All my pharmacies are saying they only use HiTech, but whats the point if they don't work.
