Beta Vert Versus Vertin

Updated

How is Betarvert different from Vertin? I developed terrible 'vertigo' 6 weeks ago for the first time, set off by exercising after a gap of several months. Accompanied by debilitating nausea. Took Vertin first, for a few days;didnt make a difference. Then was treated symptomatically with Emeset - nausea went away - felt so much better. I was told just to ease up on exercising. But i sort of recklessly went back to working out - thankfully dizziness didnt return. Then, after working out straight for around 6 weeks i took a break last week. Started ex again this week and the crippling dizziness/nausea returned. It's a bit debilitating. I'd like to know a cause as i can't keep not exercising - i actually am moderately overweight and need to slim down as i am prediabetic too. My med history is normal except for this which i figure may be relevant - i have slightly elevated liver enzymes. I struggled with alcohol as in i abused it starting quite suddenly at 26, but have been - what's the american word - 'clean'...?...for past 2 years and all my other blood tests/scans(CT/BODY MRI/ULTRASOUNDS) HENCE organs- have reported normal pathophysiolgy except, according to my neurologist (who is also a neuropsychiatrist, & who i was seeing about the past drinking), my brain MRI which shows a small amount of 'white spots' - cant help it now as this is permanent, most likely lifestyle related, & according to Dr, minimal-i only mention this as any illness and my mind goes here to this MRI...i also struggled with prolactin levels at 28, but this was becase It was then revealed i also had high prolatcin levels/irregular periods then due to a pituitary assymetry (not tumor/prolactinoma/pseudo-cushings : just clarifying- went through all tests then!). But now, the vertigo, the white spots have broug back dark memories(!) & the vertigo - though unlikely (but not impossibel to rule out i was told) - can i confirmbecause of this? My 2nd q is this - is there any way to confirm what the cause is - bcus if i didnt have the mri sitn, this woould have - and still most likely is - ruled to be just a body quirk...although i was a marathon runner in my leaner fitter earlier 20s...and never in all my years of running back then ever had vertigo. So sorry for the elaborately detailed history but you asked for detail:) and also, i am a biotech graduate and tend to be curious, but of course, also mostly just cautious these days..Thank you so very much.

Meclizine has been suggested to be more effective with vertigo for some people.

As to confirming the cause, you should see another doctor and get a second opinion, that's really the only way to be sure. Even with all the details you provided, anyone online trying to provide a diagnosis would just be guessing.

Vertin contains Meclizine and Cyclizine, both of which are used to treat nausea, vomiting and dizziness, caused by vertigo and motion sickness.

BetaVert contains Betahistine and is used for the same conditions, it just has a different active ingredient, so it may work better for some people, since everyone responds to medications differently.

And when told to ease up on the exercise, your doctor isn't really telling you to stop, but they are telling you not to overdo it. Too much of anything is never a good thing.

Are there any other questions or comments?

Hi you could have an inner ear infection which may not manifest overtly but can cause vertigo as well. Then you need to treat the infection cause.
cheers,

I would suggest that a detailed evaluation of vertigo should be dne..thro the history and sympts,it looks like vestibular hypofunction. If this is a possibility, vestibular rehabilitation should definately help you.

I am suffering from vertigo since last six month and getting attack every month or two in month. At the time of attack there is too much vomiting and spinning for two to three hours. I had consult two three doctors but only they suggest betavert and some vestibular exercise after some days i have not got the attack and my doctor discontinue the tablet and suggest to continue for exercise but when again i got attack and doctor again started the betavert. Please suggest there are any relation with food of vertigo and can i take betavert tablet only when i got attack and for how much time. please also suggest any permanent solution of vertigo.
