Benzos & Urine Drug Tests - Benzos Are Not All The Same Amount Of Time - Some 1 Day! Others 2 Weeks! (Page 2)

You can't just say: All benzodiazepines (Benzos) will take "this-long" to leave your body... That you will Pass your drug-test is you wait such and such of days. Especially with benzos since they don't all work in the same way - I know it really Sounds like they would since they're the Same Class of drug.. But it's just not so. There's some Major Differences between them. HUGE Differences people in terms of how long they stay IN your body and when you can pass a urine test and when there's no way you can for quite a while.

There's a few reasons for this... What seems to stand out as the main reason for this, has to do with what's called the half-life. The time between when you "feel" the drug.. and it Leaves your body entirely. And Not ALL benzos have this same half-life - some are different by weeks even!

And this half-life thing is a Very Important distinction between say Valium and Ativan. And it appears to be the major reason why some benzos are easier to get Off of than others are.

So Which ones are which?

Well I'll take a look at Ativan first. This benzo, ativan, is one of the shortest acting benzos out there. - This means it gets in, gets to work right away and gets out of there fast. like a navy seal. However... This also means that it's withdrawal symptoms will hit you fast and harder than the others with a longer half-life. It leaves your body Fast- Meaning Ativan will have Left your blood stream, urine, your entire body.. Anywhere between 7-20 HOURS you will be testing negative for Ativan.

Yup - Hours. So if you took a few Ativan Pills (mine was usually any where between 6-10 mg daily.. got higher after 1 or 2 pills stopped doing anything - But anyways so I'd take 4-5 2mg tablets every single day - and by the next afternoon? 24 hours later I'd do a urine test and Never did I test positive. Never. I'd take it without even thinking of what time I'd need to leave a urine-sample. So Ativan, this anti-anxiety benzo leaves the body completely - This Fast.

Now a Benzodiazepine that has one of the Longest Half-Lifes would be: Valium. It takes quite a while for this one to leave your body completely. Making it an easier benzo to taper off of and get off of - It is one of THE Worst Benzos to take if you're also taking drug-tests where they aren't allowed.

You may FEEL the valiums anywhere between 1-6 hours - but it Stays-Around inside you well after that time - (it's half-life) to about 14 days, give or take. that's 2 WEEKS with Valium - One DAY with Ativan. And they are Both from The Exact Same Drug Family.

This is Also Why some people will switch to Valium before they begin a full benzo detox, since it's withdrawls are less severe than the Ativan is. Again, the shorter-half-life: 1.) the quicker it's out of your system - but 2.) the harder the withdrawl. But you really NEED a doctor to help with exchanging one benzo for another - Because say 1mg of valuium isn't even Close to 1mg of Ativan! one does NOT equal one of the other. This is where people who've been pill-popping or using narcotics for decades end up on the slab at the morgue. Seriously people. Even the online Charts that TRY and give you a what equals what are not the same from chart to chart. This really should be a docotr-involved thing! And if you dont WANT YOUR Doctor to know this situation? - Go to an e.r. - Go on detox day 1 and a 1/2 and explain the situation to them. No Insurance? Give a false-name if you need too. You gotta do what you gotta do To Live another day! For with Life there's Hope for better days to come. Just be sure not to have ANY ID's in your pockets at all.

- Or get an appointment with a low-income doctor's office. That way you can tell This Doctor the whole truth without fear of retribution or losing your regular physician. Say How many pills - of what type and how often you've been taking. And he'll assist you and help you do what you Need to do to detox off without seizures death or even just that feeling like crapness. Say "scripts from different doctors sometimes" as to avoid him calling your reg. doctor.

And he should help figure out what.. say: (example) 4mg a day Ativan will mean in Valiums. Or maybe lay out an Ativan withdrawl amount and script you for those.

Because it is SO Dangerous to try this yourself!It Does NOT GO 1mg of one does NOT = 1mg of another benzo. Not even close! And the online charts are not even close to being the same nor even close to accurate. You could easily OD trying to figure the exchange-rate of Ativan to Valium or Valium to Ativan. Very Serious stuff, so ask a Doc if you think that's something you need to do. Seriously, no joke.

So if you're worried about or for your own Freedom or Methadone clinic or whatever it is - what/need to test urine-clean.. Ativan bezo takes ONE Day - While Valium or even Xanax is closer to Weeks. HUGE Difference, ya?

Also though - you gotta remember any of these type of "you should tests clean by whatever-date - is for those with healthy Livers. If you have Hep C or any Liver disease, medications are not Filtered OUT of your Body on time - or anything Close to usual, depending - and this is a good way and common way that 'we' tend to OD and die. What is usually filtered out in A Day.. if you have a problem with your liver, your body is NOT filtering them out in a day - but some of the medication if not most (depends of severity of the condition) means your next dose runs into the next one, and the one after that, etc etc might be adding up to one huge-overdosing amount - Since the med isn't being expelled - it can just get to a higher and higher level in your blood stream, within your body and BAM!! You OD on a dose you've been on without an issue for years - b/c now your 'filter' isn't doing the job it used to - and you die.

Just info we gotta pass on to each other - Knowledge is power my friends while ignorance is our mortal enemy.
So keep do what you gotta do - Just make sure we're all smart about it - and recognize what is REALLY dangerous - it's not a "you're acting like a baby" move, but instead it's recognizing stupid and dead when it's just a little buzz or some sleep that you're trying to get.

No you can't and you're right everyone metabolizes lipophilic benzo's like diazepam which cross the cell membranes through the blood brain barrier than absorbs in blood, and through various organs parts(brain, liver, kidneys,etc..) staying in fat deposit. Now, as someone progresses to continue to take valium which has quite a long half life, it starts to slowly build up in system. While that can cause one to continue to have diazepam in the system, there is no definitive timeframe in terms of exacts days in which it will be out completely as you mentioned. One thing however is that this benzo is longer than lorazepam hence it definitely(I shouldn't say that as if one has severe renal dysfunction lorazepam could stay in the system much longer than it should) but typically would be out of the system way before diazepam. If one took one pill whether it be 2mg or 10mg of diazepam, half life could be even 20hrs, perhaps being out of system in 2-3 days.

and one more thing is that diazepams half life is not necessarily 14 days. It can be if you really want to break it down, somewhere between the confines of 7-10 days. It also breaks down quicker into active metabolites(temazepam, nitrazepam, oxazepam). Yes, diazepam for most does take effect therapeutically quickly making it suitable for Withdrawals off long term short acting benzodiazepines(for most) However, diazepam is not necessarily the safest benzo. In fact, for someone with liver dysfunction such as elevated enzymes, it would be quite the contrare. Diazepam also can destroy membranes, cause further apoptis, organ damage and in actuality staying on it longer term than shorter acting ones may not produce as much severity in withdrawals, but because of it's mechanism of acting it could be the worst in having long term consequences(suppressed REM sleep, neurological problems, liver damage, to name a few.

This is the dumbest thing i have ever read. Benzodiazepines are not only CNS depressants (*Central Nervous System) but they are also respiratory depressants. Taking any "milligrams" can kill not always but can. Especially when mixed wuth opioids

According to manufacturers info klonapin has a 30-40 hour half life. So lets split that and go with 35 hours. I ingested 2.5 mg. (have not taken benzos in years) on the evening of January 29. The typical 5 half lives it takes to completely rid your body of the medication. So that would put us at what? 175 hours. I had a drug test for new employment on February 6 at 10am so 7 days plus 10 hours or so gives us approximately 178 hours. The 5 half lives comes out to 175 hours. So in theory and according to all literature i should be safe. Does this all look accurate to you folks?

In response to having to know whether diazepam will show up.
If you have been taking for a few weeks, than I would say the metabolites of diazepam will be traced in urine up to 2-4 weeks(4 wks at most, even for those with slow metabolism)"
However, if you took for example one 2mg pill for the very first time, you WILL NOT have it show up in a urine test a few days after taking it. Diazepam is a long half life benzo but it takes a couple or more weeks to get a stable amount in the blood, stored in fat cells. Short acting benzodiazepines like lorazepam for example DOES not break down into metabolites and is excreted through kidneys. For a normal individual lorazepam even after three, four or more weeks will NOT stay in system for more than 2-4 days(4 days or so if you have been taking it for six months or longer. In sum, NO ONe can determine when exactly drugs will stay in system for. However, one can say that it WILL Not stay in your system after "x" amount of time if you stop taking given drug.

CMD: I am prescribed the following meds by the same doctor... Xanax, Zoloft, Restoril, Trazadone and Suboxone for back pain. I was originally discharged from a pain mgmt clinic for testing negative for prescribed meds I KNEW that I had taken. I take them only as prescribed religiously. I didnt understand either knowing I had taken them. I did tons of research and checked with several doctors. It wasnt until I started testing negative for Restoril and Xanax at my psychiatrist who prescribed all of the above after I was discharged from pain clinic that I finally got to the bottom of the mystery. Initially he put me on Suboxone to help with the withdrawals from the Lortabs due to the pain clinic just throwing me out cold turkey. Imagine my surprise to find out that the Suboxone actually worked better for my back than any narcotic. So he agreed to keep me on it for now. Been in 5 car wrecks, 3 of which I was hit from behind. Long story short...Found out I suffer from Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS), and FINALLY found out that sometimes with IBS flare ups, my body was actually passing the pills thru my system so fast they didnt even absorb and were coming out, whole, in my bowel movements, which I know because my doc actually told me to watch for them... However, my pain clinic treated me the same as you described and even though I have medical proof now, they wont even see me or take my calls. I thank God every day for my primary doc and my psychiatrist. Without them I was labeled a drug seeker and no other pain clinics would accept me because I was technically "DISCHARGED". Good luck and I hope this helps anyone who has the same medical mysteries....

Just got prescribed zoloft. I am new to it. Got a lot going on and dr gave me 25mg for post partum to try out. I am expected to take a drug test soon. How long does one pill stay in your system. I prefer it not to show up because it will raise too many questions and I Dont want to have to discuss my depression with strangers. I basically wanna know how long it stays in your body so I can decide of I want to take it now or wait til after my drug test

I am in the exact same boat as you. Today is my 15th day of not taking any type of benzo, and again my drug screen was hot for benzos this morning. I have to go every morning and test until there out of my system in order to start another medication. And 15 days ago I took a total of 4 1 mg valuims. Thats it. I havent really used them in the past, a few here and there but its not like they have been in my system for a long amount of time. I have been drinking at least a gallon of water a day and it hasnt helped. My nurse told me today that unfourntunity with benzos it takes some people up to 6 weeks to get them out of your system. Your liver holds them in their longer than alot of other medication. It also depends on your metabolisim and fatty cells as to how long your body will take to clean itself out. Just wanted to share that we are going through the same thing right now, sort of. Hang in there and just drink alot and soon enough you will be clean!! Good luck :)

I have been going to an OAS program and have a group on Monday at that time before or after the group you take a urine for a screening, I told them exactly what I took and when , I had an appt. with the nurse and let her know that I had been taking Klonopins and when I took the last one, I also told her that I took 1-2 Librium a few days before my appointment on June 24, 2014, On this day I left my urine, Then I had group on Monday June 30, 2014 left another urine. On July 4, 2014 I had my Appt. with the Doctor and he said I was positive for Benzo which I was a little upset about because I had not taken anything but my Prozac, Motrin and Lorritidine so I stopped taken my Prozac and the Lorritidine but anyway the Doctor started me on Sobo and said make sure that I do not take any benzo so I haven't taken any at all. On Monday July 7, 2014 group a urine and then again July10, 2014 My Doctor had 2 other women who work with me in the OAS program come into the room during my Appt. as they had a meeting and I was then told that they think that I need a in patient program for a week to 10 days, I was furious and said no I do not need in patient program that I know what I have taken and that I didn't take anything so the doctor said he was going to give me my subscription for my sobo and keep and eye on my urines that day I took another Urine and that one was shown up as negative and again I went in on Monday July16, 19,23 and they are still saying that I that I am positive for Benzo was upset and asked why and how could that be if I and I was told that they did a urine to show what it was exactly what kind of Benzo but when I ask what type it shows of Benzo He couldn't answer me just went on with he has to lower my dose of sobo and he has given me as many chances he can. I know what I have and haven't taken I took another urine before I left today August 1, 2014, I am looking forward to see what this one comes back. Why is this happening I am tired of being treated like I am guilty, So when I got home my daughter asked me Mom whats wrong and we sat and talked and I told her what was going on and she said to me Mom can I come with you on Monday for your appt. after group that I made and I said of course I have nothing to hide from her and she always can tell when I have taken something, She wants to tell the councilor I see that there is something wrong and we are also going to take and my daughter is going to take and give me her urine so we can see if it test positive or negative if hers comes back positive something is totally wrong here we will then know that they are lying because there is no way that I still have that last librium in my system in my system and on one other occasion it had come up negative and then show positive again, My daughter is drug free so no possibility for it to come up positive, Then I am going to tell them what we did and fight them legally because I have never tried so hard to be drug free myself and be made to feel like they do not have the time of day for me, Not one person in my OAS program seems to be on my side so what kind of help is this place if no one is willing to help me prove that I am on the straight and narrow why I said to all of the staff there would I come every Monday and Thursday and give urines with out an excuse if I have something to hide. I could always use this as an excuse and take benzo's if I really didn't want to be clean but I want to once do this and be me and not need some reason to medicate myself with pills I do not need trying hard and get knocked back down, So yes they say they can tell you what kind of Medication you have taken but from what I have read it is not a cheap test to do , Can anyone help me with my problem and tell me what I can do besides what my daughter and I have already planned to do ? If there is anyone with any advice I could sure use it

For the past 30 days I have been taking .5 to 1mg xanax an within those same 30 days I took 5 resterol to 15mg..I haven't taken anything in 6 days I just had a urine drug screen this morning and I came up positive for benzos. .WHY..it's been 6 DAYS.. is it because I have hep c...should I pass Friday today is monday??..any feed back would b awsome I have to pass a test for my doctor she said she will prescribe me klonipin if I pass I shouldve passed today..??
