Over the counter substitute for Atarax ## Atarax contains the active ingredient Hydroxyzine, which is an antihistamine. Since I do not know your medical history, I cannot guess why your doctor may have prescribed it; but it is used to treat allergies, prevent nausea, to treat anxiety as well as some other conditions. In order to recommend a good substitute, one would essentially need to know "why" you're taking this medication in the first place. Since this drug seems to have a number of different uses, the dosing instructions are also dependent upon the condition more so than weight. Example: "The usual pediatric dose for anxiety is 50 to 100 mg orally per day in divided doses The alternative dosing regime that is listed for anxiety is 2 mg/kg/day divided every 6 to 8 hours The usual pediatric dose for sedation is 0.6 mg/kg/dose" If you could please post back with the condition you're taking it for, I can better determine what is considered to be a typical dose for someone in that weight range. i had swelling ,itching in my palm( like mosquito bites small red swelling)feet face and even scalp nearly two years before.when met a skin specialist he told it as food alergy and treated with many drugs like atarax, dazit,mebryl,inbetween with wyslone.fed up with poor results after two years i left medication but maintained restriction in diet .i m asthmatic too .now presently diagnosed as hypothyroid,blood tsh 7,t40.29,t3 also .i m taking thyronorm100mg and banocide.after taking i started geting ithching and red patches like before.can i take mebryl last taken drug ?.what is the allergy i m suffering from?

i take atarax and effexor in perscription form. i recieved a pill says it is attarax but looks nothing like my old atarax pills/ the size looks like the zertex but i cant be sure. it is small and round has 60E imbedded on one side and PA on the other side ## I believe the marking you are looking at may actually be 308 PA and, if so, yes it does contain 25mgs of Hydroxyzine, the active ingredient in Aterax. does anyone take 25mg tabs? if so, how long have you been taking it and does it work? ## ..hi sheila ..yes i have been taking atarax for a litlle over a year ..i found i only needed 1/4th of it for several months ..it worked great..i was having panic attacks at work ..and coulnd not sleep ..1/4 helped a lot ...now i am only taking half ..after about 7 months ...every onced in a while i will take a whole one ..but not very often do i need the whole 25 mgs ..i have not had a panic attack ..simce starting these .. ## I just received a RX for hydroxyz hcl 50 mg to take before bed...i'm not sleeping at all...will I be able to wake up in the morning or be tired all day the next day?
