Anxiety, Heart Palpations, My Mind Won't Slow Down!

This may be a little long so please bear with me,..

About 6 months ago I started suffering from light headaches. They began later in the afternoon and continued for several months. I'd take Aleve or Motrin and they would subside and all would be okay. Fast forward to the last two months. They have been He** on earth for me. About 2 months ago, I had a series of panic attack in one day. I had just started a new job that I hate and is very stressful for me. I'm trying to change jobs and hope that helps. Anyway, the attacks have become more and more frequent and I have come to a place where I don't even want to leave the house. I have been to my Doctor 3 times and the ER once. I was diagnosed with GAD and Hypertension. My anxiety has gotten a lot worse. Even driving now sends me into an attack. I was put on Lexapro, (no good), Klonopin ( no relief) and a low dose Blood pressure med (no good). I went to a different doctor (second opinion) who is fixing to run some heart tests. (Stress tests, etc). He says be doesn't think its anxiety but maybe Mitro valve prolapse or a condition in that family. My mind also can't seem to slow down. It stays foggy and I can't concentrate on anything. It just won't slow down, It stays in 5th gear 24/7. I do have an IUD in that's fixing to expire in 5 months. I 've heard those can also cause anxiety issues. BTW, this is not my normal behavior. I'm very active, no health problems, walk a lot, eat healthy, normally don't let things get to me kind of person. I attend church regularly and have a great marriage. Any advice or info would be most appreciated.

Hello, Bambelle99! How are you doing? I'm very sorry about the problems that you're having.

Which IUD do you have? I think that if it's one of the hormonal ones, then yes, you should look at it as being a possible cause of the problem. Similar to when a woman takes oral contraceptives or HRT, it affects your natural hormonal balance, which can cause all of the symptoms you've described, including the elevated blood pressure.

Since it's due to expire soon, it could even be running slightly low in the hormone it contains, which could be the cause.

Have you consulted your gynecologist? They might be the best person to talk to in order to get to the root of the problem.

Thanks for your reply. I have had the IUD taken out. It's been almost two weeks and I feel better. The Dr doesn't believe it's the IUD so time will tell. I have also changed jobs and hat has helped tremendously! My former job was very stressful.....
