what are the complications and medical history of patient to qualify taking this drug? What are the results of over injestion

Amitriptyline is a tricyclic antidepressant, that can also be used to other mental health disorders and migraines.

In the U.S. it is approved to treat depression, so that would be the medical history that would warrant someone taking it. Other uses are considered to be off-label prescribing.

Side effects can include: nausea, drowsiness, dry mouth and weight gain.
