Amneal Oxycodone (generic Percocet) 10 325

Updated

Amneal's oxycodone, generic for percocet 10/325 is white, oblong, blank on one side, and imprinted with IP 204 (not IP 203)! I usually take Watson or Mallinckrodt, 10/325, (2) tablets every 4-6 hours (240 monthly), but I was given Amneal today when filling my script, and I am not happy! I have cancer, and I also take morphine sulphate 30 mgs as well (1 every 12 hours), and Fioricet with Codeine for severe migraines (as needed)! I do not feel Amneal is sufficient or even close to the chemical makeup as Watson or Mallinckrodt for controlling pain/chronic pain! Amneal does not act the same way on my body, and I should not have to take more for same result! I think when you pay cash for your medications, and have been on the medication for 8 years, using the same pharmacy, they should order what helps you! The pharmacist says he has been ordering Watson 10/325 and Mallinckrodt 10/325, but they are only sending him Amneal! I am not happy, as I pay over $300 out of my own pocket for the my generic oxycodone alone! Pharmacist says he has to take what is shipped to him! Not sure I like that answer, but I checked 7 pharmacies within a 10 mile radius of me, and they all are stating the same fact, and substituting Watson or Mallinckrodt with Amneal! What is going on with ocycodone, generic percocet 10/325? Whatever it is, I don't like it? Generics are NOT all created equal as they say they are! It sucks to have to rely on medications to live, but what else are we to do! Thank you all for reading this! Love to all! <3

Unfortunately, there can be some slight fluctuations from one generic to another, they just aren't noticeable to most people. However, you could be experiencing problems due to having been taking it for a long time.

Learn more Percocet details here.

Your body should adjust after a week or so, depending on your tolerance levels and how well you normally adjust to medication changes.

And yes, pharmacies actually order from a distributor, not directly from any given drug company, so the generic they end up with of any given medication will be whichever one their current distributor negotiated the best deal on, so they don't actually get to pick which one they get. They can request the others, but if the distributor can't get it, then they are out of luck.

This is a narcotic analgesic, so it may be habit forming and could cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation.

Are there any other questions or concerns?

I too have to take Percocet 10-325 and have always had and asked for Watson brand, recently all the pharmacies including my regular, have started getting actavis, last month I had headaches and my pain was not under control like usual. In the past I've been given other brands besides Watson and had similar effects. I did find studies and literature about different manufactures, cutting corners, using alt fillers and dyes, using a curtain companies time release or synthetic cheaper alt. This is def the problem and unfortunately I have know idea what I'm going to do now? I was told a company bought out Watson also,so trying to find that manufacture will be impossible as CVS,Kroger and others are buying other manufactures because they're cheaper. We're now paying the price for this.

These generics are NOT at all the same. Amneal has changed its formulation, and now is the very worst. Endocet is the best you can get if you can get it. Its the closest to brand. Amneal has added stimulants, and less of the active ingredient. It hoops me up and works against my anti anxiety meds. They used to be good. But this changed about a year ago. Watson does absolutly nothing at all.Im pretty unhappy and having trouble sleeping on these crappy pills. Shame on them.

I agree . I was at one time going to different pharmacy trying to get Mallinkrofdt for my mscontin. Well now all these chains are being pressured by DEA they have the choice to or not to fill on the day you bring your scrip I found a private owned pharmacy I only go to them ive been getting Rhodes brand mscontin. for many reasons I run out early but not when I get the Mallinkrofdt manufacturer. from what ive heard and read actavis?? bought Watson,

I have called my insurance company for an override to allow only brand drugs in the pain area. The generics vary SO MUCH? that they can actualy interact with what else you may need to take. Your doctor must work on this with you.Its red tape, and a huge pain in the ass, but if you can get them to work with you, you will never have this problem again. You may pay 50.00-100.00 per bottle. But without insurance, precocet 120 tabs, is over $ 1,000 a bottle. If you can get a generic for 5.00? It has to be much much different. Because this request gets rejected atleast 2 times before it gets accepted, you must be on top of the process. Brand drugs run through your system just fine doing their job nicely. All, this other crap, is just that. Crap.Wish me luck with this one...

My pharmacy says that they can only get what their supplier can get. They told me that they can ask for certain brands of generics, but it doesn't mean they will get them! I used to get Endo and Mallinkrodt. Now it changes monthly, and it's always junk. The other pharmacies around me all use Watson, which is even worse for me. I don't have insurance anymore, so I have a discount card, and pay over $200 for my percocet script alone! I get Percocet 10/325 #240 per month (8 per day), and Morphine Sulphate 15 mg, #60, one every 12 hours. I also take Fioricet with Codeine, 4 per day/120 monthly. I take multiple narcotics, as I have severe chronic pain with (3) types of arthritis (post cancer therapy, chemo and radiation). I also have severe migraines, and have had (2) strokes because of them. I was told that I could ask my pharmacy to order the generic that helps me, but no guarantees I will get it! I pay over $200 for my percocet script, so I should be able to get what works for me. Thank you for your help. I truly appreciate it!

Activa and watson are now merged. They have chosen to drop the formulation of watsons and only manufacture the activa formulation which is what I have now. I am relatively sure they suck as well. I was getting watson for years. Pretty upset. Name brand Percocet cost 1,200 for #120! From your post, perhaps I will get Mallinckrodt? You seem to state they were better. You can order from any Pharmacy. Good luck. Respond via email if you want. If you get any news on generics please let me know. Thank you. Laura

You can tell when a post is from someone who doesn't experiences pain. It's like reading the back of a cereal box. I have had 3 major joints replaced & need 3 more done. As stated by others, Amneal is like taking an aspirin. I tried chomping on it, turning it to dust in my mouth, then swallowing. It was much better; it was like taking TWO aspirin. I got the Amneal brand from Walmart--- of course, you can't return anything like that and have to wait until you are due for the next prescription. These games the pharmaceuticals play are debilitating. I went to the Safeway food store that carries the Endo brand in their pharmacy. I just want to thank everyone for sharing their experiences! ...take time to voice your opinions to your pharmacist.

I'm sorry for all you are going thru. I've had similar problems myself. As Laura indicated Watson bought Actavis, but they opted to keep name Actavis and the formula is NOT the same. Mallies are like aspirin to me. I've learned my local CVS and RIte-Aid have changed from Mallies to Amneal. McKesson is middleman for both pharmacies here in Los Angeles. II used to not have a problem requesting Watson brand for oxycodone, vicodin or Norco. But it is totally different just in past few months. May I suggest what I did and that is using ur script for approx. 10 pills so you can try the generics to see if they work for you. However, once u use your script that way, b/c schedule II, it cannot be reused for the remaining amount. When in trial stage, ask you doctor 4 two scripts explaining the above. This way you can go to your insurance and ask for brand name exception proving u have tried 3 generics. Also, Costco has an 'insurance plan' for those with no insurance. The cash price is very reasonable but I don't know which generic brand they are carrying. Incidentally, the pharmacist (@Rite-Aid) told me sched II drugs are all backordered and she doesn't know if receipt will be in a week or month or whatever. This in WLA So I don't know was if it is a local problem or what. When I called Actavis a few weeks ago, she checked and said there are no problems on their end. Production was normal & there are no prod issues. So problem lies with distributor. This relates to Watson/Actavis only with my fone calls. However, the backorder reflects ALL generics and brand name of Percocet.
Hope this helps a wee bit.

Raven,i totally agree with you my pharmacy pulled the switch on me with knowing I get the brand endocet 10/325 for amneal pharmarcy 10/325 pill label ip204 I'm not happy at all I trusted my pharmacy I even called in ahead of to make sure I would get only endocet they chose to dispense ip204 without informing me. trusting them I left the line while walking out of the store I checked, saw that it wasn't endocet I turn around couldn't be more than 3mins they refused to make correction so now for 30 days I have to suffer unnecessary pain for a switch they chose to make without making me aware I could've taken my script somewhere and got the endocet but then the pharmacy wouldn't have gotten a sale then right, never again will I get tricked because of trusting my pharmacy......I'm very upset..........

I totally understand all this! For months dr changed me from roxicodone to percocet ever since the change i have not had relief scared to say anything to my dr so after a very painful RFA treatment in my neck And meds not working i decided to tapper off since it not working why take it! no more or less pain until i swept and moped my floor duh! ER trip for anti inflamitory shot yay i hate needles! With still questions as to why one med works and another dont i found info about amneal. Ok so i looked at my bottle says amneal! Called pharmacy asked them since i have been taking this what brand have i been given AMNEAL! I told her about my concerns saying i go in morning to dr. She said to talk to him that maybe the fillers are affecting me. (My mom cant take some genarics cause of fillers already)
Im 38 have osteoarthritis in lower back and neck as well as degenerated disks in both too. RFA has helped with the bad headaches and shoulder is still hurting but no headaches big plus fir me!

I have been researching this whole thing since watson 10/325 have been replaced with activis. very sucky. Watson no longer manufactured. I would stick with the M's. This month I will be getting oxycodone 10mg. Going to see how those compare to M's .Your insurance plan must really suck. Under my plan, I pay $5 for 120 tabs. Also, you might change pharmacies because my pharmacy will special order any generic I want. Good luck to you

I use to take Percocet 10/650 and the same thing as been done to me. I am now forced to get ip204 or active. Both are crap. PERCOCET was made by Watson, and Watson was sold out to a company in India. Guess what we are taking? All the crap pills from India. The pharmacies are making a fortune and probably a lot of other companies. I have a lot of back problems and believe me, these pills are no good. We are being ripped off here in our country! Where do I go to get these pills analzed, something has to be done. Chronic pain.

I hate it when you tell your doc or pharmacist that the crap you are getting for pain doesn't work any more and they look at you like you are crazy. They all know good and well what is going on. Watson sold out to India and now we are getting their crap. There are just too many complaints coming in about this problem. Another unsatisfied customer.

I noticed in your statement about percocet 10/325 120 tablets cost over a $1000 without ins. Brother i dont know where you are getn your meds? But it sounds like when they vsee you coming they have a huge smile on their faces! In my town i go to family owned pharmacy, 120 percocet 10/325 is only $58 cvs walgreens an other big name stores are 3 times that amount. My oxycontin 80 are $1000 oc 40's $505 with coupon. This is without ins. I agree it shouldnt cost so damn much! We are in enough pain as it is dont need the finacial paons to go with it!

I tried to get the brand but because I have medicare and because my pain doctor just kept saying that it wont work, I gave up. Im in constant pain since Watson was taken over by Actavis and my oxycodone is not working. Actavis also causes stomach problems for me. I dont know what to do.

I tried the amneal brand the pharmacist at cwfm pawned off 126 on me.i knew he had the real thing because I had just gotten it earlier.it was so weak that I had to overtake to get pain relief.my doctor pulled the early refill trick on me and made me go on suboxone.now I have no pain relief for the nerves in my back, legs, hups and neuropathy in my feet.BE CAREFUL WITH THE AMNEAL BRAND AND TAKE TIME TO CHECK. THE FDA IS CHECKING ON THEM NOW.two many complaints.

Amneal is pure horses***!! Why the heck is it still out there? Haven't enough people complained with severe side effects? Our medicine is being made filled with crap and hardly any medicine!! As if we cant tell!! Effing senators and politicians ARE NOT DOCTORS! They need to stay out of Healthcare!!!

My Dr. prescribed Amneal Oxycodone with A04 imprinted on it. Is it immediate release or extended release? It's 5mg.

I agree with you. I hate this Amneal garbage!! I take Watson or Mallinckrodt too and they switched to Amneal because it's cheaper. Of course it's cheaper. It's pure garbage! I have no pain relief. What the heck is this crap that is made in India and given to us here in the US? They don't have the same quality control standards in India!! This frustrates me! Stop this!! I am in serious pain and I might as well be taking just plain Tylenol!

I knew it these are crap! I felt like I was out of my mind. These do not relieve any of my pain, another month of no pain relief. Now just hope I can change pharmacy since I'm in a pain contract. They give me headaches and feel weird in my head. This isn't the first time it's happened. Last month they were ok, not this month.

I have found out the same thing about generic pain meds. They work about half the time they are supposed to. If I had my choice I would never take another pill but I have diabetic neuropathy in my legs and the pain levels are always in the 6_8 range and at times almost 11-12 for real I can't function and walk on a cane with out some relief.
