Nimesulide is a selective Cox-2 nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory used to treat pain and fever.

When they say it is effects the liver, the is because most medications are processed through the liver and long-term usage can lead to some harmful effects, however, if you are only using it for a short period of time the chance of it having any ill-effects are minimal.

How long did your doctor prescribe it for?

Almost all of the current NSAID medications carry this same risk, so there aren't really any alternatives that you can use.

Have you discussed your concerns with your doctor?

These are all biased people replying to this post. may be doctors or manufacturers who are a part of 300crore Rupees business every year, and do not care about anyones health. PLEASE DO NOT LISTEN TO THEM.

Nimesulide is a Non-Steroidal Anti-Inflammatory Drug (NSAID) that does affect liver even if you intake for a few days that has a long term affect. There are many alternatives such as diclofenac (Brand names: Dicloran, Doflex) just to mention one. (Who say there arent any alternatives?)

source: online research, discussion with doctors, suffered myself.

I am a doctor- critical care specialist.
Nimesulide should not be taken by anyone... Even one or two tablets of Nimesulide can cause Hyperacute/acute liver failure... I have seen and treated many such cases...
Please refuse to take Nimesulide if prescribed... Go for short term Diclofenac sodium/ibuprofen instead... Relatively safer although may harm your kidneys in long term though.
