SGPT actually refers to an enzyme that is normally present in the heart and liver, the ALT stands for the other name it is referred to, which is Alanine Aminotransferase.

If yours has been reported as being elevated, then this usually means there is some type of damage that has occured to the liver or heart.

It is not a disease, so it is not catchy.
