May I ask the name of the Dr you were seeing? I don't think I'm supposed to drop names here but I'd be happy to give you names of those located here. You can very likely do a Google search for pain managers in the area. Why not have your pcp refer you somewhere? You're going to need some kind of referral there's no question of that. They don't make appointments for new patients over the phone without a faxed referral and very likely will request the records come from the referring Dr. Why? They don't trust that the patient hasn't made changes to them!! It's THAT bad. l

Hello there,myDoctor was Doctor Raneri fromAllied pain management. He had several offices inBoardman,Columbus Ohio,And some in Pa.He got arrested for Medicaid fraud. All the pain management docs around here are swamped. They have been closing all the pain management clinics around my area.I did have one appointment with the only Doctor around,But my Mom broke her hip and my homecare aid didn't turn up. And I lost my appointment. Thanks for your concern.

Tim, Where exactly do you live? Are you nearer to Boardman or Niles? Austinown? I also was seeing Ranieri @allied. I've been driving to Akron to a Clinic there & its not the best scenario thats for sure! There are doctors around here its just a matter of getting in with one. Do you have a Dr will refer you if you have a name? It sounds to me the closer to home for you the better especially if you're trying to take care of an elderly parent? Yikes!

Does anyone know of any good pain docotrs in ohio? Cincinnati or even up by columbus. I have been to two pain doctors and they have retired now and i have to find a doctor. I want to find a dr that will write anything and who is laid back. I am on roxy 30's 5/day, for my back. I have herniated discs and nerve damage in both legs from car accidents. Does anyone know of any doctors out here in ohio? Any suggestions would be appreciated! thank you.

With all due respect Meranda, good luck with your search for the Dr in Ohio who'll "write anything" and is "laid back". I can't be sure about Cincinnati/Columbus area but Northeast Ohio is going without pain management as far as Dr's taking on New patients. If I were in your shoes I'd ask my retiring doc to refer me to a colleague. If it's too late and your doc has closed shop, I'd like to offer my sincerest hopes and dreams that you're able to find what you described in your post earlier. Keep is posted!

Keikee, I got that pump in on April 4 since then I pretty much feel amazingly good!!!!! My leg that is, I just have to get more help for my lower back.I would definitely have anyone with severe leg pain to get the pump, hands down.Forget the simulators if they try pushing one of them.they don't do the job.On me that is!!!!! Great to hear from you, sorry I've been busy and only now got back to this blog.Good luck all, Tim

Now I've something to smile about today...good things happening for a good person. Just the way things should work out I think. I know it was tough getting to this place tho. No doubt! Now, you can work on getting some relief for your back and the sooner the better. Thank you for letting me know how you're doing, T. Warren66,
I'm sorry to hear of your loss! I typed the following; "doctors prescribing methadone within 50 mile radius of youngstown, oh" into my Google search bar. I found eleven names. Do you have access to a computer? If not I'll happily list them for you. To be honest, I'm alone taking care of a VERY sick & whiny dog that's driving me to distraction to say the least. Let me take care of her and when someone else(namely, my husband)comes home I promise I'll get back to you. I'm in the youngstown area....

JJ,

How're you doin? I can never figure out which "commenter" a reply such as yours, JJ, is meant for. I'm going to assume you're asking about the Dr I was seeing in Akron, Oh. Unfortunately, the clinic there closed suddenly after my March '14 appt. Since then I saw a PA at Mahoning Pain aka Tiffany Pain Management. The PA there was a nightmare. I went in to my first appt where I was handed a clean catch u/a cup as soon as I signed in. Alrighty. So I give my sample and an hour later I'm called back. The PA immediately told me the syndrome I have doesn't respond to narcotic pain killers. I hadn't even mentioned any narcotic pain killers or prescription. I hadn't had a chance to say anything because she was too busy assuming all I wanted was narcotics. She practically called me a drug addict to my face as she looked over my records! Yes, I'd been in the same dose of morphine ER for 12 years but hadn't had any for 2 months. I felt composed, had had a bath that morning and applied lip gloss. She wrote me a script for Neurontin, which I'd taken 2 years prior. It made me feel homicidal. Like enraged. It was crazy. I told her this but that I'd take one and see if anything had changed since then. She shoved me out the door, telling me to come back in 2 months for a recheck. At this point I was SO trying not to cry! I went to the desk and asked if I could please have an appt with a doctor which is what my referring dr wanted me to do. Dr only sees cancer patients with the PA taking care of his others. I made the recheck appt and returned 2 months later, took the u/a as before, which was clean btw.No matter. What a complete waste of time! What a complete shrew the PA! I wish I could be of more help. My advice is Google "pain specialist physician in your town, Oh or Pa". Also, go to website called healthgrade where you can do a search for specialty drs by filling in their "formula". You can get drs names and addresses with patient reviews on the site. Good luck! I'd avoid the female PA at Mahoning pain like the plague.

When I read your post about Tiffany I realized I was not crazy or being judgmental. I received almost the same treatment. The one PA is so nasty that if I had not been a born again Christian I think I would have decked her. My Dr. died suddenly and I was referred to Tiffany which has been a nightmare. I was on methadone which worked perfectly for me because I became allergic to oxycontin. I have deg. disc disease. They said they didn't believe in methadone and I have been suffering ever since

Hi Carol! I'm so sorry you're going thru all this nonsense! No, you're NOT crazy at all! The situation you're in is due to the arrogance of government agencies thinking they're qualified to set limits on opioid medicines for the good of the people blah blah.
You're still searching for a Dr to prescribe your Methadone, right? Will your referring physician give you another referral to someone who would likely write the Methadone script for you? And you're in Youngstown? The Austintown, Warren, Niles, Girard, Boardman areas?
I'm going to check with my(limited)sources and see what I can find for you. It might take me till Sunday or even Monday afternoon to get back to you but I promise I will come back here to let you know what I've hopefully found for you. You take good care of yourself and have a great weekend. Talk to you soon!

Hi Keikee--Thank you so very much for your reply and your interest. I'm still looking for a Dr. who is licensed to write a script for Methadone. I live in the city of Youngstown and I would greatly appreciate any help you could give me by supplying names of Drs. you think my be able to take me as a patient and write prescriptions for pain meds especially Methadone (I will do the same for you). I pray you are doing better and have found a Dr. who can help you with your pain. I am praying for you, you pray for me and we will pray for each other that we can find help and relief from this pain because there is nothing worse than to be in constant pain with no relief in sight. Again thanks , GOD Bless you and I hope to hear from you soon.

Hi Carol! Here's what I found:

1. Meridian Services 527 N Meridian Youngstown 330-797-0070
2. Adil N Jaffer 4308 Belmont Ave Youngstown, 330-759-7038
3. John Vargo, DO 5480 Norquest Blvd Austintown 330-799-8000
4. David Herr, DO 8090 Market St Boardman 330-259-4849

Meridian Services doesn't list a particular Dr as I'm pretty sure that facility has a staff of Docs. The others are either on their own or with a partner etc...I hope you're able to find a place with this list! If not, back to the drawing board! Please let me know how this goes! Take care of yourself Carol!

Hi,
I know of course this is an old post. But there is Comprehensive Pain Management they're all over the place. There is a Doctor Shah definitely stay away from him he's in the Akron Ohio area up by Summit Mall. He doesn't care about anyone he only cares about the money. He has 2 nurse practitioners one's a joke the other one's pretty good. There's also a few doctors in Kent Ohio. But check into Comprehensive they're all over the place. Good luck. You'll be in my prayers.

Hi.

Well whoever you decide to go to please stay away from a Doctor by the name of Dr,. Shah he's in Akron Ohio he cares nothing about his patients he's all about the money. And he has 2 nurse practitioners and they're nothing but his puppets and they could care less as well. Just horrible that doctors and nurse practitioners could give a rat's ass. Good luck.

Hi... I hate that you felt like you had to back away from this site because of downright ugly people. Sometimes in life we just have to suck it up and move on and ignore them. They're not worth you leaving because if you leave then that means they win. And eventually trolls will take over this site. Wishing you the best. And please come back.

Hi Tim.

I just posted quite a few clinics and few doctors that you may be able to use. I hope this helps you out and I hope this helps so many because the doctors I did suggest are very good doctors and they care. Except for the one doctor I named, he could care less about anyone as long as he gets his cash. Good luck and if you need more I can get a few more names for you. Wishing you the best.

Re: keikee (# 1) Expand Referenced Message

Hi.
We should be able to help one another it shouldn't matter what site were on. There's a doctor he has his own practice there's a few doctors there as well.

The name of that is Comprehensive Pain Management. I think there all wonderful there. They have quite a few offices. Cuyahoga Falls Ohio. Kent Ohio. Wadsworth Ohio. Youngstown Ohio. And there's so many more.

Here's another one for you. Western Reserve pain management there in Cuyahoga Falls there's quite a few doctors in there as well. Very very nice establishment. And they care.

Dr. Maeda she's amazing she has her own office in Kent Ohio. Very very caring. Not sure if the spelling is correct on her name.

Stay away from Dr Shah he's in Fairlawn in Akron Ohio he's absolutely horrible. Bad bedside Manner and he could care less as long as he gets his money. That's all he's worried about.

I may be able to find out more if all of these don't work out for you. Good luck. I hope this helps you.
We're all in this together and like I said it shouldn't matter what site were on as long as we're able to help one another. We have to fight back somehow.

And in the Cleveland area there's a lot of pain management clinics and private doctors. Good luck. Please keep us updated if you use any of these doctors.

Re: Keikee (# 17) Expand Referenced Message

Amen! So, so true about the DEA and its newfound Draconian policy regarding what is appropriate medical care for people suffering in a realm they know nothing about. And the buffoon currently in office is fueling the inferno...Try a concierge doctor (hopefully you're in CA, but the trend is spreading)
