Adderall Backorder (Page 30)

I take generic Adderall 20 mg for narcolepsy and there is not one local pharmacy that has it in stock. I have never had this problem before. The pharmacies are saying that it's on backorder from the manufacturer. Is anyone else having problems getting their scripts filled?

I used to use CorePharma which was not bad but then I read in another forum 2 or 3 years ago that people preferred Eon Labs (Sandoz?) so I called around and found where I could get it. Turns out it really was better for me anyway. But lately I hadn't had a prescription filled for it for about 9 months. I just got a new one a few weeks ago and had it filled at the same pharmacy. I get home and it's Teva. I looked it up here and turns out neither CorePharma or Eon Labs are making it anymore. Was very disappointed to see this. I tried the Teva and didnt like it. I'm going to have to call around and see what generics are offered elsewhere now and try something else next month.

Same problem with IR in DC area. I was told it's been on backorder for 3 weeks.

My CVS told me yesterday that they were out and didn't know when they'd be able to get more, so I called around and just found it at Walmart. I also talked to Stop-N-Shop's pharmacist and she said that if the doctor sent in the script today, they'd special order it tomorrow and didn't forsee any problems. When I asked why CVS was having problems then, they said that they have a different supply chain.

We are on the San Francisco peninsula, CA. I haven't been able to find 10mg Adderall to fill my child's prescription, and both CVS and Walgreens locally are saying they don't expect to have it for at least 3 weeks.

I'm in Pensacola, FL. I take 10mg twice per day and everywhere in our city is out due to manufacturer location of south Florida. Thanks are due to Hurricane Irma. No signs of when they will be back up and running.

I called Walgreens, and they were out of 30mg IR. I asked about 20mg IR (would have to get a new script from my doctor), and they only had 15 pills left. Due to new "security measures" they were unable to give me ETA of new supply, since it was a Controlled Substance. By chance, I happened to be in Giant, and stopped by the Pharmacy. They had just enough to fill my 30 pills of 30mg IR.

I managed to get my daughter's prescription filled this evening: If you are in the SF Bay Area, the 24 hour Walgreen's in San Carlos may be able to help you. They won't tell you over the phone if they have Adderall in stock (apparently they aren't allowed to because it is a controlled substance) but they did say I should get my doctor to send in a new prescription, and it got filled. Phew.

I currently live in Florida and all of the CVS's and most every other pharmacies in the area are out also. They said it was due to the hurricane but now I'm starting to wonder. This is concerning since I'm on a higher dose. I did find 20mg Teva at Walgreens but got accustomed to Aurobindo brand and found the Teva not nearly as potent and after some research I found that they also put saccharin in their formula. It's bad enough we have to take the Rx but putting something that is known to cause cancer is completely irresponsible.

After a lot of grief about the Teva I just got my dr. to give me another script for Aurobindo and now it seems the Aurobindo isn't working hardly at all. Btw...CVS just yesterday got it in. This is kind of getting ridiculous. I'm going to stop for a couple of days to see if that helps.

Same problems here, but backwards in a way. Been filling at CVS for years. They're cheaper with my discount card. Found out about this whole manufacturer problem when i went to fill em last week. They said I'll have the same problem not just at CVS, but probably most pharmacies. Publix, Wal-Mart, Winn-dixie, etc.. Walked across the street to Walgreen and sure enough they never heard of any backorder and they actually had em. (F.t.r, without the backorder anyway, seems like it's a 50 50 shot if my CVS has em the day I'm to fill em anyway). However Walgreens said though i was in their system, they couldn't fill em til they talked with my doctor. Reason being it's a C2 substance and I guess it's their policy to need to speak with the doctor every 3 months on C2 substances or higher. She said it would be 24-48 hours (she was a b****) I asked why so long, and she replied she wouldn't call till later in the afternoon and depending on how long the doctor took to reply would be the length. I called my doctor and he we willing to do whatever to help. I informed the pharmacist and she said that is not how it works. She has to contact the office herself and he then either needs to be there to talk or call her back. I couldn't call my doctor and have em call them. I politely told the lady they may be the only pharmacy within miles to have them and would it be too much trouble to make the call right then while I was there. She said she'd call later in the day, photocopied my RX, and said once he returned the call she couldn't promise it would even be filled due to other people possibly coming in to fill the same meds while mine was aside on hold. I finally got that she was just a miserable person in life and anytime she had an opportunity to use her power she was not going to try to be helpful. Drove to a few pharmacies within a 5 mile radius and all said they had an order for em, but oddly they didn't turn up. I told each one that CVS just got the news a couple days before that their manufacturer was backordered.

So. Let me back up some. To start the day I called in a refill on my alprazolam to my lil mom and pop pharmacy around the corner from where I live. I don't fill both at CVS cause I prefer the green alprazolam scorer twice to make 3 sections and not 4. So after the 30min at CVS with the explanation and i may want to tell my doctor to call in a different medication related to adderall, or time release, they can fill those but they had no clue when the backorder would be resolved and had been 2 weeks since they got their last order. After dealing with Walgreens for 45 minutes, calling different cvs's I'd dealt with before hoping they'd help me on the phone when they're not supposed to discuss C2 substances on the phone, they at least did help seeing me in the system monthly with no problems. All were out and 1 had just given exactly what I was trying to fill to someone else 20 min prior to my call. I sat in my car. Though what next. Guess I'll wait and see if Walgreens works when they get ahold of my doctor. So on my way to get my alprazolam and home then. Before I left the parking lot, I called my pharmacy, and told them I had the alprazolam to pick up, and if it was possible for them to order an Rx of adderall for me if I needed em to. As I understood these little pharmacies needed to special order when it came to these kinds of meds. The pharmacist then told me she had 1 bottle there unopened and would hold em if I wanted to. Of course I said yes not knowing how many are in their bottles and if it would be enough to fill my 90. Assumed 100 and think that's what it was. Then proceeded to ask the brand. I was told this Aurobindo brand or whatever. Never heard of it. Told her yea, hold it, and I'll be there to pickup both in 20minutes. Normally I pay $47.00 for 90 20mg tablets. There I was gna have to pay $147.00 for the same. So when I looked up the brand I got no good feedback whatsoever.

I don't think I found one positive remark on the brand. People saying fake tablets, placebos, etc.. I decided when I got there is tell them thanks, but not going to take them. Once there, I did ask if I was able to look at one, or of they could tell me the color and print. It just so happened she showed it to me, was orange, and print was U 30. The same as I'd been getting from Cvs for as long as I could remember since switching to the 20mg. So the whole time CVS had been giving me this brand, but yet they are dealing with a backorder when this little mom and pop pharmacy are having no trouble. I know there's a problem though cause it's not just CVS. This whole time though I had been getting the Aurobindo apparently when I had never heard of the brand. For some reason If someone were to ask me what brand I had, though I never knew for sure, I'd of wanted to say teva. So 3 hours waste that day. Yes. I had to pay an extra 100$ but would of been much more well worth it had I known what i was going to encounter to start and when I called the refill in for the alprazolam, I'd of just grabbed the adderall there. But as far as the brand, it's no placebo to me and gets me moving around. However I been noticing light signs of nausea at times when I never dealt with that but could have been from getting a bit too much sun working in my yard after Irma had hit. Anyway. My point is, on most brands, whether alprazolam, adderall, or any pain meds, I just don't have the problems alot of ya have with certain brands. Sincerely are all the same to me. Maybe a tiny tiny difference. Only reason I prefer the green 2mg alprazolam is days I don't need much I break em in thirds, and with them scored that way it just makes it that more convenient. We’re having a problem in NH but it may just be CVS. I have to go there because my part D is Caremark, and I heard that Wallgreens hasn’t had a problem, but last week I took 60 of the last 100 the CVS an hour away from me had. I remember when this happened in 2011 and it took like 6 months to get back to normal up here. It started in the southern states back then months before we felt it. It was ruinous for some people. I know for me, I was written up at work for the first time in my life because I couldn’t keep up.

You’re probably right. The FDA med shortage page only says that one manufacturer stopped making them. They probably were the ones who had the recall.
