Best Generic Adderall Brands (Page 21)

Is the round pink 30 mg Adderall generic name Sandoz/Eon with the markings of CDR 136 on one side more or less effective than the oval orange 30 mg Adderall generic name Barr/Teva with the markings of b974 on one side and 30 on the other side? What is the most effective/potent Adderall that is generic and 30 mg?

This is in reply to Hamster who posted on August 15th that Hamster believes Teva messed with the formula. I agree. Something is definitely different. A change in the types of fillers, or ratios, or increase in contaminants can easily cause problems. Teva's Generic Adderall has been recalled twice in the past few years, all dosages for things like having to great of a variation from batch to batch and too high contaminants. So it certainly wouldn't surprise me.

People have stated that they don't know what to trust since some people report good experiences with a generic while others report bad experiences. That's because there is a variation from batch to batch. So there's no way for anyone to say whether the batch you get is going to work. But I can say that in Chicago, there has been too great a variation in batches that I've filled at Walgreens specifically on the northside. Case in point, I have an old batch from January, I took one yesterday and was back in business, able to focus, ADHD symptoms gone. So I took one of the new batch again today as a challenge and nada, zip, zilch. I feel nothing but irritability and depressed and I'm sleepy as hell. I only have 10 from the January batch so I guess I will just use sparingly. But the problem is I have no idea which generic to refill next time. It sucks. Amphetamine is cheap to make and has been around forever. You'd think companies could consistently produce this medication the same from batch-to-batch but that is just not the case. And here we are struggling with a medical condition for which our medication is too inconsistent to properly treat. Sucks

I just started taking Aurobodino and they are terrible! That is why I'm on the internet right now desperate to find some answers because I cant take this anymore!! A year ago in April I had a terrible experience with Mylan and was given a new prescription so I went back to Corepharma. I don't like Corepharma but they work best compared to Mylan and Auro, but I'm hearing mixed things - is Corepharma gone now? I'm really scared to keep trying these new manufacturers! They've been my go-to, so now what??

They discontinued COREPHARMA that's why I'm here LOL! CRAZY I'm thinking SANDOZ/SHIRE is best at this point--EVERYTHING ELSE IS TERRIBLE and has gotten worse and worse? IDK so confused! and PISSED!

What is even more interesting (and, in my opinion, both unacceptable and unethical) is the "testing process" which a generic company completes in order to complete the application (an ANDA) to the FDA, for ultimate approval.

The generic company --alone-- performs all the tests to ensure it is commensurate with the Brand. This information is confidential, the results are not available to the public. One only can speculate what the interval and external validity of these tests are...

Bioequivalence, as determined by the ---generic companies "tests" (the exact range or number) is not made public, only provided to the FDA, and can vary + - 20%
from the Brand Name drug.

The position they will tell you is that this range is not "clinically significant"

Another worry:

Once these companies, like Teva, begin producing their drug, most of the time in factories located in third world countries, we must hope they actually produce what they state to the FDA they will. The FDA does not have the resources to check on all plants around the world.

If you visit the FDA site, in the search area, type "warning letters" These letters are where the FDA has indeed inspected a plant, and found standards to be profoundly sub-par.

Teva has received Warning Letters.

It simply makes one worry...and rightly so.....

Poaster- you are right on the money. I've been prescribed 30 mg adderall twice daily for my adult ADD for over ten years. The generic you spoke of ruined an entire month for me. Completely innafective. Best 30 MG IR is def the TEVA "footballs" marked 30 like described

I've been taking generic Adderall only (never Brand) for 20 months now. Currently I have Teva 30mg IR. It's my third consecutive month with Teva. The tablets are visibly different than those 10-12 months ago. This Teva is harsh to say the least. The side effects are almost unbearable. Zero appetite. Irritated and edgy. The comedown is sharp and unpleasant. I only chose Teva because of the generics on the market today, it's the best (for me) of the worst.

What does work for me is a three month rotation. Teva 3 months, then Aurobindo 3 months, etc. This method gives me a "newness" with each generic and does provide better results...energy, improved problem solving and increased ability to stay on task until completion. However these benefits decrease with each passing month and the side effects increase. Far from ideal, but this system is the best I've come up with.

I no longer complain about fillers and binders or expect any changes from big Pharma. The tablet is what it is...my incessant complaining about the manufacturer's methods is not going to change the make-up of that little pill. Rather, I try things like adjusting my dose slightly up or down. Or taking a three day break from Adderall which helps me tremendously. In short, I focus more on what I can control and less on what I can't...like how much I think Teva needs to make a better product or why the FDA allows for such a wide variance in the active ingredient's bioavailability.

Well, I bit the bullet and filled my monthly Adderall 30 mg script with Aurobindo. today. Yes, folks Aurobindo! That dreaded, libeled, India made, "sort of" Adderall generic (as some have said).. I decided after the last Teva script which I found harsh, anxious and irritable inducing, absolutely ZERO appetite" of the supposed it mainstay" generic had taken a definitively "new formula" feel (and shape). As I have been on a 5 day "vacation" my immediate reaction was the drug did the job- and fast. I had work piling the last few days as my motivation was pretty much nil the last 5 days. Took 15mg before lunch and the remainder after -and- I am all caught up on my work! This is what I ask for in my Adderall meds. Motivation and decent concentration. Also nice to have a small bump in mood. As stated, just started these but they met all my criteria as of today. I'll give these anything 5 days and report back how I have settled into them...they seem very similar to last Core's...not too strong but putting me on track.

Stay tuned.

What are people finding is the best Adderall generic these days? I'm on Cor right now, but heard they got discontinued. I've tried Teva in the past and found they do not work for me.
Is Sandoz still the gold standard for generic Adderall? Or is there a different brand I could try?

I am fine with the 20mg orange ones from Teva. What dosage do you take and what time do you take it at? Also, how old are you and how much do you weigh? I was first put on 5mg round blue pills from teva (they did nothing). Then was put on 10mg from teva (blue oval). Also nothing.

Now I am on 20mg orange football from Teva. They work but wear off especially if you drink lots of water like me. I am 53 and 95 pounds and 4'10ish but I am not sure if this relates to your weight/height. I do not abuse them (to study) but rather use them to focus on work/stimulant. I never take one after 4-4:30pm. Do you take a break from them on some days? I need to be careful as these cause your blood pressure to rise and can be bad for your heart (and I'm older) but have low blood presure 90/60 or lower. Now it is 110/60 which they said is fine but don't go higher than that at my age. I don't use them to stay up for 36 hours studying but more because of age/depression/tirednesness especially looking at monitors. Let me know.

When a generic company changes their formula, they must file a ANDA with the FDA, just as they did when they initially began manufacturing,

The "kicker" is this:

THEY complete the "Tests" that the FDA requires to show:
____________________________
bioavailability / bioequivalence.
____________________________

Moreover, the "results" are --not made available to the public--.

So, if it is "just barely in the acceptable range" according to the FDA, we would not know.

Moreover, you just know the internal and external validity of these "tests" must be questionable, to say the least!

Re: Hollywoodchick (# 411) Expand Referenced Message
I am liking the TEVA orange ones. I first was on Teva blue ones (5mg and 10mg). When the Dr changed the script to 20mg (Teva brand too) the pills were orange and football shaped. I get them at Walgreens in NY. They are never out of stock. The only thing I can tell you is that sometimes I need a 2nd dose in the afternoon. I don't like to take the 20mg again and have used the blue pills. They have a terrible side effect (headaches) and also make me GRUMPY coming down of them. I'm also trying to make sure my blood pressure doesn't go high (it is elevated on this drug).
