60 Mg Oxycontin

Updated

I have been on OxyContin 60 mg. 3 time'sa day for about 6 or 7 year's. It woked GREAT. I have gotten 3 refill's of the NEW OxyContin they are not the same, they do not work as the old ones did, they do not last as long, it takes longer to take ANY kind of effect, I have went to the doctor, he does not want to change any thing, I called Purdu to find out how to get the old one's back, some one said if op is on the pill instead of oc it would be equal to the old one's. I dont know ! all I know is I went from being able to thing's to sitting in a chair or laying in a bed, I can not even get out of the tub now with out help, I have 6 grandchildren that I use to be able to play with (not for a long time, but now FORGET IT.) I do not know what to do, where to go I am stuck not being able to do anything and this is not only hurting me, but also my family, I have MANY chronic condition's and I WOULD RATHER NOT EVEN LIVE THIS WAY,and can not get any help from any one. I want to be able to enjoy or at least atempt to have the life I had, I could at least walk, take a bath if I dont want a shower, and most of all I WANT TO PLAY WITH MY GRANDCHILDREN AND NOW I CANT EVEN HARDLY SIT IN A CHAIR TO PUT A PUZZLE TOGEATHER, OR LET THEM SIT IN MY LAP WITH OUT BEING IN EXTREME PAIN. THIS IS KILLING ME. They are not going to be little long. My grandson had a Christmas play last night and I had to leave in the middle due to I could not sit on the bleacher. If any one has any advice or can tell me what may help I would greatly appriciate it. Purdu is not telling me the truth, I read that if the Doctor would put op on the pill or some thing as that, that it is equal to the old OxyContin. I dont know what to do and it seem's no one care's. These pill's cost $1,084.00 a month and now they do not even work. I ceartainly do not have that kind of money, thanks to God we have insurance at this time, but my husband lost his job before Thanksgiving and we did not even have a Thanksgiving dinner and now there is going to be no Christmas dinner or present's for my grandchildren and our insurance will stop the 1st 0f Jan. I am wondering if any of this is even worth what this company is putting people through, and beleive me, on line, I am far from the only person that is going through the same thing. I am about to just give up.

I am sory to read of what you are going through and you are correct, there have been many complaints about the new formulation not being as effective as the original, as well as it causing odd side effects.

As to getting the original pills, again, I am sorry to inform you that it is not going to happen, regardless of what your doctor writes on the prescription, because they have been discontinued and are no longer available. Purdue stopped manufacturing them, when they released this new formulation. Pharmacies were able to sell what they had, until their supplies ran out, then they were all restocked with the new OP formulation.

The only thing I can suggest is that you can also report your problem to the FDA, if enough people call, they will be forced to realize that there is a problem with this new formulation. You can do so at the following number:

you have my most sincere sympathy, i suffer from chronic pain as well. what i would recommend is talking to your doctor about switching from the oxycontin to another equally potent pain killer such as opana cr (stronger than oxycodone but very effective), dilaudid, or instant release roxicodone pills as they come in dosages of 15mg, 30, and possibly more

Chase, Roxicodone and its generics aren't instant release, these tablets are a regular release formulation of Oxycodone, so while they do release all of the medication at once, they will still take about 15 to 20 minutes to start working.

The name brand for the instant release is OxyIR and it is actually only available in 5mgs, therefore, it really wouldn't be practical for someone who needs higher doses for pain management, because they would have to take quite a lot of them.
