Fluorouracil And Calcipotriene Combo Reaction

Updated

I put this combo on face fro 5 days as prescribed. Pretty awful for 2 of the days but all clear after 2 weeks. HOWEVER, then I developed a bad rash on my chest - did not apply cream there. Doctor doesn't know but thinks maybe the absorbed cream went systemic. Cortisone helped. Now a similar rash has spread to my legs and arms. not burning but supper bumpy and itchy. Scrambling to find help. Has anyone experienced a systematic reaction to untreated parts of the body?

You are definitely having an allergic reaction to Something. Is it this creme or something else you are using causing it. The same thing happened to me and it was a nightmare. I also lost a lot of my hair. See who the manufacturing company is and where they are located-some foreign country?? China?? The easy way is to just stop using the creme, wait awhile, see if it goes away. Otherwise, I went to a dermatologist who specialized in chemical testing (patches all over back and chest), you wait for 24 hours and return to see what you were allergic to. Expensive but my insurance company paid. Any questions-contact me. I wish you luck!!

A skin rash is a very common side effect of Fluoracil, and Calcipotriene, and they both list that the rash can be local to the area of application, or generalized throughout the body. Other side effects may include skin redness, diarrhea, nausea, and dryness.

How are you doing, now? Has there been any change?

Are you on any other medications?

I used combination of calcipotriene and efudex 3 hears ago and my legs never healed. They are still inflamed, crusty, and itchy. Doctor prescribed several drugs that lowered my immune system, but none healed my legs. Has anyone had the same experience or a cure?

Re: VerFree (# 2) Expand Referenced Message

I got a ski test by a dermatologist sho said it was eczema (which I've never had) so I used a cream for that and a Lubriderm or Eucerin cream. Still wonder if the drug created the eczema or what???

I am no longer on any medications other than micardis. I have taken prednisone, methotrexate, and cellcept to combat the rash but nothing has worked. The rash is still red, irritated, and very itchy despite my using numerous types of psoriasis creams as well as the topical medicines like
triamcinolone, clobetasol, desonide, elidel, etc. So far no success with any of them.
